What all are eligible for Education Scholarship Scheme for Army Personnel (ESSA) ?
Children of all serving Army personnel including Defence Secuirity Corps (DSC) and MNS Officers from class IX to PG level of education are eligible. TA, retired and deceased personnel are not eligible for ESSA Scholarship.
What is the age criteria for award of scholarship ?
Children should be below 25 years of age on the date of completion of class/course.
Which academic year result should be considered for award of scholarship ?
The scholarship will be awarded based on result of class passed between 01 Oct of preceding year and 30 Sep of current year.
Does cut off percentage takes into consideration best of four/five subjects ?
All subjects taken by the student in the class will be considered for calculation of percentage of marks. Scholarship will not be awarded on marks obtained in best four/five subjects.
What is the method of selection and award of scholarships ?
Once the applications are received based on cut off percentages, merit list will be drawn for award of scholarship based on allotment of funds for the particular year.
Do I have to upload copy of marksheet at school and college level ?
Yes. A copy of the marksheet at school level and both semester of the year passed at college level are required to be uploaded with the application.
Will supplementary /six months result will be accepted at the college level ?
No. Supplementary result / six months result will not be accepted.
What all certificates are required to be uploaded along with application ?
A certificate each from OC unit (for eligibility and correctness) and Principal/HoD is required to be uploaded for processing of application. The sample format of certificates can be downloaded from online Scholarship Application Form (under respective sections) ie under the option, Click here to download sample form.
Can I also be considered for elapsed academic years ?
Previous academic years applications will not be entertained for award of scholarship.
Do I have to upload student’s photograph and signatures along with the application?
Yes.
What is the amount granted for PG courses ?
Rs 10,000/-. Post Graduate for award of scholarships.
Is separate application required for each child ?
Yes.
What should I do if I come to know after final submission, that my application is put under observation ?
In case the application is marked as ‘Under Observation’, the application will be reverted to the student for correction of the observation in his/her application form. Student can correct the observation and resubmit the application for re-verification within the stipulated timeline of 15 days from the date of observation.
How do I register myself as a new user for ESSA ?
Click on ‘New User Registration’, fill in details as asked for. You will see a message on the screen, ie to register successfully, verify mail. Click on ‘Verify Mail’ in the mail sent on your registered Email ID. You will be directed to go to create password for account set-up. Accordingly, create password and now you are successfully registered to login with your credentials.
Is there any Application ID ?
Yes. An Application ID will be provided to the student once his/her application is submitted online. It will be conveyed to students through SMS/ Email. Students should remember their ID as it will be required to know the status of the application.
Do I have to fill up the online application in one sitting ?
No. You can fill up the online application in many sittings using ‘Save Draft’, until you are satisfied that you have entered all desirable fields correctly. The software provides facility to save your application until you click on ‘Submit’ button.
How do I change my password ?
On the top right of homepage, click on icon next to privacy policy. Select change password and follow instructions on the screen thereafter to change password.
Can I edit the information already saved and up to what time ?
You can edit draft/incomplete information filled by you until you ‘Submit’ the online application. To edit the application, go to the option ‘Existing User login’→ edit details and then click on ‘Submit ‘ button.
What should be the type and size of the documents to be uploaded ?
The format of the file should be .pdf, .png and .jpeg and the size of each document should not exceed more than size given at the uploading option in the application. Also, to view the uploaded image before submission, right click on the mouse and select option, ‘Open Image in a New Tab’. Upload image again, if image is not clear.
How should I check the status of my application online ?
Once login, you will be able to view the option ‘Track Application Status’. Under this option, enter Application ID and CAPTCHA to get status online.
How can I check whether the amount of my scholarship is credited into my bank account or not ?
You may check the ‘Track Application Status’ on the homepage. You shall see the disbursement status along with Transaction ID.
Can I download my Merit Certificate ?
Yes. Once the documents are verified and scholarship is approved, there will be an option to download Merit Certificate. Merit Certificate will be awarded to all approved applications irrespective of disbursement of monetary award.
How do I fill my Army No in the application form ?
For officers, enter prefix followed by numbers for e.g. IC48270. For JCOs, enter prefix followed by numbers for e.g. JC654321. For OR, enter numerical numbers only for e.g. 6383799. There should be no space between alphabets and numbers.
Can I fill ESSA application offline ?
No.
